MMHMF Scholarship Recipient

Jasmine graduated with an advanced studies diploma and a 4.0 GPA from Matoaca High School in May of this year. She was in the dual enrollment program and took a variety of honors classes. Jasmine is a freshman majoring in Architectural Engineering at Hampton University.
Her high school activities included: the JV Varsity Cheer Squad, Captain; the Track Team; DECA; the Spanish Club; Leadership of Success Representative; and the National Honors Society.
In the community Jasmine served as a volunteer for the Congresswoman McClellan Youth Advisory Council; the Delta G.E.M.S. Mentorship Program; the Chesterfield Food Bank; Youth Doorkeeper-First Baptist Church of South Richmond. She participated in the Jr. National Society of Black Engineers and the Richmond FBI Teen Academy, Summer 2023.
Jasmine enjoys gardening and reading. She is certified in CPR and Autodesk AutoCAD.
In her letter of recommendation, one of Jasmine’s teachers said that Jasmine has "that combination of a positive attitude and the belief that she can always improve, which is rare in a high school student, but so essential to the learning processes. She would report to Warrior Time (study hall) to develop a better understanding of what she learned. I feel confident in saying that she is capable of handling any situation with thoughtfulness and maturity."
