MMHMF Honoree2022 Community Service Award Recipient DR. SAMUEL L. BUSCH >Dr. Samuel E. Busch is a retired Obstetrician/Gynecologist who was born on August 13, 1930 in Canonsburg PA. He graduated from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He received a BS degree in Secondary Education and further a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC. Dr. Busch interned at Texas Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas and completed his residency in Obstetrics/Gynecology at the Brooklyn Cumberland school in Brooklyn NY. In 1972 he was certified by the American College of Obstetricians/Gynecologists. Dr. Busch holds the distinction of being the second African American licensed to practice Obstetrics/Gynecology in the state of Virginia. He is also an active member of the local Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. Bird hunting holds a special place in his life. He also enjoys riding his Tennessee Walking Horses and he is a member of the Charles City, Virginia Saddle Club and the Friendship Club in Burlington, North Carolina. He has participated with his dogs in field trials and his horses have won blue ribbons in competitions. In 2018, he was honored by Chesterfield County when the Dr. Samuel E. Bush Concession Stand was dedicated in Ettrick Park. Dr. Busch has supported the youth of Union Grove by sponsoring them on trips and making donations to the Vacation Bible School. He organized a health fair for men in the community and has made generous contributions to the Health Ministry of Union Grove. Also, |
