JADA WIGGINS
The 2021 Virginia State University (VSU) Endowed Scholarship Recipient

Jada Wiggins, The 2021 Virginia State University (VSU) Endowed Scholarship Recipient

Congratulations to JADA! She was nominated to receive this scholarship award by Dr. Melloney Johnson, the Matoaca High School Counseling Coordinator. The VSU Endowed Scholarship fund was established in 2011 to fund scholarships for Chesterfield County students attending the University. Our namesake, the Late Martha Mason Hill, worked there for 40 years and helped her seven daughters and two of her granddaughters attend the University, then Virginia State College. She retired in 1970.

Jada graduated with Honors from Matoaca High School and earned her Advanced Studies diploma. Her classes included Advanced Placement English Language, Dual Enrollment U.S. History, Honors Chemistry and Honors Trigonometry and Analysis (Pre-Calculus). Jada is active in school and community extracurricular activities. She has been a member of the Junior Varsity Cheer Team, the Best Buds Club, the Project 7 Club, and as a senior she served as a freshman mentor. Jada volunteers at a local food bank, and she tutors younger students in her community. She aspires to become an early childhood education teacher or a pediatric nurse. Like our namesake, helping others is a priority for Jada. She plans to continue to be of service to others in her adult life.

Jada’s academic achievements, extracurricular, community involvements and her desire to be of service to others make her an excellent choice for this award.
